Installing your own modem

Thank you for choosing CenturyLink for your internet service. Si proporcionas tu propio módem para tu servicio, hay algunos detalles que te conviene saber sobre la instalación y activación.

Importante: Si aún no lo has hecho, comprueba que tu módem sea compatible con tu nuevo servicio. If you are re-using a newer CenturyLink modem, it will most likely work. To be sure, check our compatibility page and contact us with any questions.

Setting up service when re-using a CenturyLink modem

If you are installing a CenturyLink modem that you already have from previous service, do the following:

  1. Plug in the modem's power cord and perform a factory resetEsto es necesario para borrar las credenciales anteriores y permitir que el equipo se conecte a tu servicio nuevo.

  2. Conecta tu módem con un cable Ethernet. Once the modem is reset, as long as your CenturyLink service is active, the modem should connect automatically. Para obtener más instrucciones, consulta our modem setup instructions.

Aclaración sobre la activación de la línea: Tu línea debería activarse antes de las 7 p.m. del día de inicio del servicio, momento en el que puedes conectar tu módem.

Setting up service with a non-CenturyLink modem

If you are using a non-CenturyLink modem, first you'll need to verify that it meets the technical requirements to work with our service. Keep in mind that cable modems and many brands of third-party modems do not work with CenturyLink service. If you have a modem that you think will work, chatea con nosotros to get the credentials you need to manually enter into your configuración del módem:

  • PPoE username and password
  • VPI / VCI

You will not be able to connect your modem to our network without these credentials.

A subscription to Personal TechPro gives you on-demand support for your non-CenturyLink modem, and all other devices that connect to your WiFi network.
